Dear editor, I refer to the front page article of an edition of Macclesfield Community News at the beginning of December concerning our silk heritage being sold by our' Silk Museum to northern Italy, and I would like to know why this has happened.
Why does our Silk Museum sell our silk artefacts and local heritage to a direct competitor of our local industry?
This action will surely affect our local industry and the employees of same.
We should be doing all we can to save our heritage and not only that, the future of our proven silk industry and its historical performance.
I always felt that Macclesfield would keep its character, and especially heritage, but I now feel that the powers over us do not wish to.
I feel sure now that Macclesfield is going to lose its worth and feel deeply sorry over the fact that we, as locals, do not have any say in our future.
