A DERELICT mill site in Ingersley Vale, Bollington, may be regenerated with the building of 66 new homes.
Subject to the completion of a legal agreement, Macclesfield Borough Council’s planning meeting approved a scheme to demolish all buildings on the site except the mill, which would be converted into 24 apartments.
Town houses and flats would be built on the rest of the site.
Rainow Parish Council and Bollington Town Council were concerned about the impact of traffic on the surrounding roads, while the Environment Agency wants a flood risk assessment to be carried out before development starts.
The Ramblers Association and the Footpaths Preservation Society objected to the scheme because it would affect existing footpaths.
Fifteen individuals wrote to the planning department about the proposal, most of whom objected to the plans on grounds of impact on roads, wildlife and highway safety, but some welcomed the clearance of a derelict site and the retention and conversion of the 19th century mill.
The application by Ingersley Vale LLP now goes to the Government Office for the North West with a resolution for approval.
