Update: Tribute to two killed in car incident

THE parents of two young men who died after a car crash in Cheadle Hulme have paid tribute to their sons.

Police were called to Alderdale Road just before 1am last Friday, following reports that the Vauxhall Astra they were travelling in had lost control and overturned, landing in the front garden of a house.

Gareth McMahon, 20, of Brookfield Road, Cheadle, and Richard Lloyd, 20, of Granville Road, Adswood, both died at the scene.

Gareth's family said: "Gareth was a much loved son, brother, grandson and nephew. This is a tragic accident and we are deeply sorry for the loss of two wonderful boys.

"Gareth will be missed by all his loving family and friends."

Richard's family paid the following tribute: "Richard was a loving son and grandson, who would do anything for family and friends, and he will be missed by all."

Two people witnessed the collision, and it is believed the car had lost control as it came to the junction of Councillor Lane.

Paramedics attended, but the driver and the passenger were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Inquiries into the cause of the collision were carried out, and the car was found to have been reported stolen from outside a house on Radnormere Drive earlier last night.

The investigation into the exact circumstances of this collision will continue but at this stage it is not believed that any other vehicle was involved.

Nobody else was injured in the collision.
